Burn, Scars & Keloids

Burns, scars, and keloids are common skin conditions that usually occur after a major injury, accident, or damage to the skin. Burns are typically caused by excessive heat, fire, or chemicals that damage the skin cells. Burns can be classified into different types—first-degree, second-degree, or third-degree burns—depending on the extent of damage caused to the skin. Burns often result in pain, swelling, and, in some cases, can leave behind scars.

Scars are marks that remain after an injury or treatment. While they generally fade over time, some scars may persist and remain visible.

Keloids are a type of scar that can form due to skin injury, sometimes caused by burns. They are typically pink to purple in color, hard to the touch, and may cause itching or inflammation if not treated properly.

Managing scars and keloids can be challenging. To improve their appearance or remove them, treatments like laser therapy and radiotherapy can be considered. It is essential to keep scars and keloids moisturized regularly. Surgical removal is also an option for some cases, and applying sunscreen can aid in better healing and prevent further skin damage.
